Rootwater Return to the introduction

Privacy, source to mouth.

Rootwater is a small local landscape-reading app, paired with this static introduction and privacy site. The app works with built-in scene choices and two reading controls. This page describes what those surfaces actually do, what stays on the device, and where a future website host has a separate role.

Effective August 26, 2026. This version describes the Android app and static website packaged together. It should be revisited if the app, host, publisher contact route, or public distribution changes.

Surfaces covered here

This information covers the Rootwater Android application and the two local website routes that introduce it and present this policy. It does not describe unrelated sites, services, accounts, or products that may use a similar name.

Who the experience is for

Rootwater is general landscape-literacy content for adults, older learners, and families using it together. It does not create a child profile or ask a person to declare age, identity, school, household, or eligibility.

The app-authored study

Scenes, prompts, Meanders, explanations and images are authored for Rootwater. They are fictional composites, not organization records, District reports, maps, scientific observations, professional advice, or statements that the named organization officially provides this experience.

Input

A ripple ending at a clean wax boundary

Touches and reading controls

The Android app responds to taps on built-in image nodes, fork choices, back actions, and two native sliders for generalized elevation and season. These interactions change app state only; they are not environmental measurements or sensor readings.

What a Meander remembers

App-private preferences hold built-in node identifiers, slider positions, the current route, and one saved Meander sequence. This information remains meaningful only inside Rootwater and is not a field record.

An empty channel with no writing surface

Material never requested

Rootwater provides no free-text field, camera intake, photo library picker, coordinate entry, location report, environmental report, name field, email field, donation field, or contact form. The app therefore has no place to submit those categories.

Device

Closed pores in a quiet wax surface

Device features left alone

The Android app requests no camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendar, phone, notification, nearby-device, health, storage, or advertising-identifier permission. A later feature that needs a permission would require both an app change and an update to this explanation.

A graphite channel ending before a separate layer

Android connections

The Android manifest contains no internet permission, and the app includes no operation for sending its local state to a server. Clearing or changing a Meander is handled on the device.

How a hosted page arrives

This website package is static and contains no form or analytics script. If it is hosted publicly, the chosen host may process ordinary request details such as IP address, time, requested path, browser information, and security logs. The responsible publisher should identify the actual host before public release.

Identity

A still wax surface without an identity mark

Accounts and identity

Rootwater has no sign-in, account, profile, username, social graph, membership record, or identity verification. A saved Meander is not associated with a person inside the app.

A sharing tributary ending within its own relief

Measurement and promotion

The Android app includes no analytics, advertising, attribution, profiling, billing, or account SDK. The static site package includes no tracking script. A public host has its own request-handling behavior, described separately above.

Sharing and sale

Because the Android app does not transmit its local state, it does not sell, rent, or share Meander choices with advertisers, data brokers, or other organizations. This statement does not describe independent processing by a future website host.

Control

A removable wax meander resting apart from an outlet

Organization separation

Using Rootwater does not send information to Friends of the Benzie Conservation District or to the separately identified Benzie Conservation District. The app is not an intake, reporting, membership, donation, volunteer, or service channel for either entity.

Retention and erasure

Built-in choices remain in app-private preferences until they are replaced, cleared from “About this study,” removed through Android settings, or removed when the app is uninstalled. The in-app clear action returns the path, sliders, route, and saved Meander to their starting state.

Shared devices and backup

Someone with access to an unlocked shared device may see the current Rootwater state. The app disables platform backup and device-transfer extraction for its local files, but device owners remain responsible for screen locks, operating-system controls, and any independent device-level tools.

At the edge

Small and large impressions beside one another without people

Children and family use

Rootwater is not designed to collect personal information from children. It offers no child account, messaging, public posting, precise location, or open-ended submission. Families can explore the built-in scenes together and clear the local path at any time.

Changes, date and contact

This policy is dated August 26, 2026. Material changes should appear with a revised date and reflect the released app and chosen website host. For privacy questions, use the responsible publisher channel displayed with the public store listing or hosted version of this site; no separate organization contact is asserted here.

The local path remains yours to release.

Use the clear action in Rootwater, Android application settings, or uninstall the app to remove its local state. Revisit this page after any material app, host, contact, or distribution change.
